Kids Holiday Art Workshops with Maggie Peterson

Celebrate the holiday season with two creative art workshops for kids at the Holmes Art Studio! Led by artist and educator Maggie Peterson, these hands-on classes invite young artists to explore new techniques, express their creativity, and make festive artwork to share with family and friends.

December 8 – All About Ornaments: Painted Wooden Ornaments & More

Kids will create handmade holiday ornaments while exploring festive imagery, painting on wood, and learning basic knot-tying techniques to make miniature winter hats. Participants will leave with unique decorations to display at home or give as thoughtful handmade gifts.

December 15 – Creative Holiday Cards

Young artists will explore printmaking while designing handmade holiday cards and posters. Using pronto plate printmaking techniques, students will create original designs and produce multiple prints to share with the special people in their lives.

Instructor Maggie Peterson holds a Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in printmaking from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has developed art programming for the Detroit Lakes Community Center and Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes and works in the art department at Lakeshirts. Her work has been featured in regional exhibitions, including those at the Lake Region Arts Council, New York Mills Regional Cultural Center, and MacRostie Art Center.

Participants may register for either workshop individually. Pre-registration is required, and all registrations are final sale unless the class is canceled.
