Gouache Painting: Whimsical Charley Harper Animals

Learn step by step how to paint different whimsical and adorable creatures designed by the graphic artist Charley Harper. Local artist Anna Lassonde will walk you through how to paint each creature in gouache! Gouache is a fun medium very similar to watercolors, but very bright and graphic to try and emulate Charley Harper’s fun graphic style of art. There are 5 different classes through the summer, come to one or pay for all 5 and save some money!

All materials provided, Ages 13+, all classes are final sale

Make sure to go see the Colors and Shapes: Nature According to Charley Harper exhibition at the Becker County Museum, the Washington Square Mall, and Ortonstone Gardens brought to you by Project 412. These fun and colorful art pieces have a little something for everyone.

Heart of the Matter

Heart of the Matter is a two-part art workshop for kids ages 8–12.

Participants will sculpt a paper mâché heart and decorate it with their own painted collage paper.

This creative class encourages kids to express what matters most to them—through color, texture, and design—sharing their unique view of the world straight from the heart.

Tori's got some great techniques to add to your portfolio of weaving skills. This short morning class is designed for you. Bring your loom or rent one from us and we'll get you going. This is a perfect course for those interested in creating a piece using all those remaining half-used skeins of yarn you can't part with.

This popular class is back. Working from a live model, you will learn how to sculpt a female torso with clay. With Mary's guidance, this is a great lesson in understanding proportions of the human form at the same time creating a piece you'll appreciate and enjoy. This class is taught at Mary's studio located just a few miles from Battle Lake. Fee includes clay, glaze and model fee.

Saturday, June 14, 2025. Hours 1:00-4:00. Carve a Cottonwood bark feather with Prairie Woodcarvers Group led by Roger Thalman. Tools and materials are provided, including a carver's glove which participants get to keep. For ages 14-104. No experience required.
