Explore the colorful world of emotions through art, storytelling, and creativity at this fun, hands-on kids art camp at the Holmes Art Studio! Led by artist and educator Maggie Peterson, this afternoon workshop uses the animated film Inside Out as inspiration for exploring feelings and creative expression.
Participants will watch Inside Out, discuss the emotions portrayed in the film, and create their own stress balls to use as fidgets during the movie. Kids will also discover how artists use color, line, shape, and other visual elements to communicate emotions through artwork.
Building on what they've learned, young artists will design original characters, develop their own stories, and create personalized books featuring their characters and illustrations. Each child will take home a handmade book with plenty of room for continued storytelling and creative exploration.
Instructor Maggie Peterson holds a Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in printmaking from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has developed art programming for the Detroit Lakes Community Center and Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes and enjoys helping young artists explore new techniques and express their creativity.
Pre-registration is required. All registrations are final sale unless the camp is canceled.
