Cartography Map Making Art Class w/ Jona Brown
Saturday, November 8 from 10AM-12PM for Ages 7-15
Create your own unique maps using watercolors, ink, and markers! Young artists will design fantasy worlds, treasure maps, or maps of their favorite places while learning basic cartography skills.
Artist Jona Brown will guide students in using color, symbols, and labels to bring their maps to life. Students will explore the art of mapmaking while creating a personalized piece they can treasure.
Perfect for young explorers and artists who love adventure and storytelling!
About the Instructor:
Jona M Brown is a Fergus Falls-based oil painting artist, known for her chicken, butterfly, and kitchen-inspired art. Inspired by unique items or an interesting character, she creates compositions that tell a story. Jona studied oil painting in high school and college. She received a BS in interior design from NDSU with a minor in bus. admin. Jona spent 30 years in retail, running Biffley’s & Bookmark and JCP Catalog. Currently Jona paints murals for the OTCHS, researches genealogy, teaches art and Sunday School, and maintains and restores her historic home. To expand her artistic skills and story-telling ability, she is exploring oil pastels and cartoon drawing.
Class Date: Saturday, November 8 from 10AM-12PM
Sliding Scale Registration Fee: $30-$45 (supplies included)
Class will take place in the Classroom located in the lower level at Kaddatz Galleries (111 W. Lincoln Ave. Fergus Falls, MN 56537).
