Artists Wanted!

Muralists, illustrators, graphic designers, typographers, photographers—and more—are invited to join one of the largest public art programs in the Upper Midwest. Metro Transit and the Metropolitan Council are expanding their roster of pre-qualified artists for paid public art projects across the transit system, from station walls to bus and train exteriors.

The artist roster is the primary resource project managers and planners use to find artists. Signing up is free at metrotransit.org/artist-roster-form

Call for Artists: Art on a Stick 2026!

The Detroit Lakes Arts & Culture Commission, in partnership with Project 412, is seeking artists for the second installment of the Art on a Stick Project. Selected designs will be printed on vinyl wraps and installed on the large “popsicle”-style posts located in four city parks around Detroit Lakes.

This rotating public art project brings fresh creativity to our parks each year—and your artwork could be part of the next installation!

*** Applications are due: May 1, 2026.

Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply and help bring more art into our community spaces.

Call for Artists: Joyful World Mural Park 2026

The Minnesota State Fair and Forecast Public Art are seeking four muralists to create new murals for the 2026 Joyful World Mural Park.

Selected artists will paint their murals on-site during the 2026 Minnesota State Fair as part of a public art experience that invites fairgoers to watch artists at work and engage with a wide range of creative styles. This year’s theme, “Joyful World,” invites artists to imagine and depict a world they want to live in through welcoming, vibrant, and family-friendly work.

Eligibility & Details:

  • Open to artists 18+ who reside in Minnesota

  • Four muralists will be selected

  • Stipend: $4,500 (includes materials)

  • Murals will be approximately 8' x 8'

  • Artists must be available to paint on-site during the Fair: August 27 – September 6, 2026

  • Previous Joyful World Mural Park artists are not eligible to apply again

Application Requirements:

  • Responses to artist narrative questions

  • Brief mural concept description

  • Rough design sketch

  • 2–4 examples of previous mural or large-scale paint-based work

Call for Artists: Moorhead Streetlight Banner Designs

U.S. 250 Anniversary

Deadline: Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM
Location: Moorhead, MN (Downtown streetlight banners)

The City of Moorhead is seeking original design submissions to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary. Selected artwork will be printed on banners and displayed on streetlights throughout downtown Moorhead.

Submission Criteria:

  • Must relate to the United States’ 250th anniversary

  • Must incorporate a red, white, and blue color scheme

  • Must be appropriate for all audiences

  • Up to 2 original designs per artist

Design Specifications:

  • Dimensions: Right triangle, 48” tall x 20” wide (12:5 ratio)

  • Format: PDF, 72 dpi, under 10MB

  • Double-sided: Include a mirrored version of your design

  • If using text, ensure it reads correctly on the mirrored version

All submissions will be reviewed anonymously by the Art(ist) Review Team (A.R.T.).
