Window to the World: Finland

Take a journey to Finland without leaving New York Mills! Window to the World: Finland is a special exhibition celebrating the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center’s group excursion to Finland in June 2026.

Featuring photographs, ephemera, souvenirs, keepsakes, and other mementos collected by travelers, the exhibition shares the story of their journey—from Finnish landscapes and architecture to everyday experiences, cultural discoveries, and memorable moments along the way. Visitors are invited to experience Finland through the eyes of local community members who traveled there firsthand.

Two special events offer additional opportunities to hear from travelers and learn more about the trip:

Coffee Talk with Elevate: Wednesday, September 23 | 10:30–11:30 AM
Join NYMRCC Artistic Director Megan Shirley-Ross and traveler Pat Fredley at the New York Mills Public Library for coffee, stories, and reflections from their experiences in Finland.

Closing Reception: Saturday, October 10 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Celebrate the exhibition and the travelers who made it possible. Hear stories from participants, explore the exhibition, and enjoy light refreshments.
