Adult Class: Soft Pastels with Jona Brown

Cultivate your creative side with soft pastels! In this beginner-friendly class, students will explore the vibrant and immediate qualities of soft pastels while experimenting with color, texture, and a variety of underpainting techniques.

Instructor Jona Brown will introduce color mixing fundamentals and guide students through simple compositions to create expressive studies of color and movement. No previous pastel experience is necessary—this hands-on class is all about experimenting, building confidence, and discovering what this colorful medium can do!

About the Instructor:
Jona Brown is a Fergus Falls-based artist known for her colorful, story-inspired paintings of chickens, butterflies, kitchens, and everyday life. With a background in oil painting and interior design, Jona brings creativity, curiosity, and a love of storytelling to her work. In addition to her studio practice, she paints murals for the Otter Tail County Historical Society and enjoys teaching art to artists of all ages.
