Forecast Public Art | 2027 Public Artist Grants

Have an idea for bringing art into public life? Forecast Public Art is accepting applications for its 2027 Public Artist Grants, supporting Minnesota artists who want to create publicly accessible work, develop new ideas, connect communities, or advance their public art practice.
Rather than asking artists to respond to a predetermined site or theme, Forecast invites applicants to bring their own ideas. Projects can take many forms, including installations, performances, murals, gatherings, sound works, social practice, community meals, festivals, temporary experiences, and other creative approaches to public and civic life.
Opportunities are available for both early- and mid-career artists:
Mid-Career Project Grant — Supports the creation of new temporary or permanent public artwork in Minnesota.
Mid-Career Professional Development Grant — Supports activities or projects that help artists expand or advance their careers in public art.
Early-Career Artist R&D Grant — Supports research, development, and planning for publicly accessible art projects or activities.
Early-Career Artist Project Grant — Supports the creation of temporary or permanent public artwork in Minnesota.
Applicants must be based within the geopolitical boundaries of Minnesota and the Native Nations that share this geography. Artists and culture bearers working across disciplines and media are encouraged to apply.

Forecast also offers application support, including a recorded virtual information session covering eligibility, the application process, and tips for developing a strong proposal.
