Gouache Painting: Whimsical Charley Harper Animals

Learn step by step how to paint different whimsical and adorable creatures designed by the graphic artist Charley Harper. Local artist Anna Lassonde will walk you through how to paint each creature in gouache! Gouache is a fun medium very similar to watercolors, but very bright and graphic to try and emulate Charley Harper’s fun graphic style of art. There are 5 different classes through the summer, come to one or pay for all 5 and save some money!

All materials provided, Ages 13+, all classes are final sale

Make sure to go see the Colors and Shapes: Nature According to Charley Harper exhibition at the Becker County Museum, the Washington Square Mall, and Ortonstone Gardens brought to you by Project 412. These fun and colorful art pieces have a little something for everyone.

YOUTH WORKSHOP: "Basics of Wheel Throwing and Handbuilding" @ Creative Arts Center

FEE: 4 sessions for $60.

The first two sessions will be spent on learning the basics of wheel throwing and handbuilding. The last two sessions will focus on learning how to glaze your kiln fired pieces. This class is limited to 8 students.

SUMMER CLAY CAMP AGES 10+

A series of four (4) clay / ceramics sessions for youth ages 10+. All classes are held at the Creative Arts Center, from 1-3 pm.

It's recommended that students attend all four sessions.

Participants will sculpt a paper mâché heart and decorate it with their own painted collage paper.

 Young artists will begin by exploring the unpredictable nature of fluid mediums like acrylic paint, watercolor, and inks.  Join interdisciplinary artist Naomi RaMona Schliesman from Fergus Falls for an engaging art class experience! Students will explore 2D and 3D design elements, develop technical skills, and experiment with various materials while learning creative problem-solving. The class covers techniques in acrylic & watercolor painting, clay relief, printmaking, colored pencils, and mixed media, while providing insights into art movements through creating Surrealist self-portraits, abstract paintings, watercolors, and sculptures.

 No prior experience needed—just a willingness to explore and create! Students should wear clothes that can get messy and may bring a drink and snack if desired. Lemonade and a small treat will be provided.
