Kathie Brekke & the 42nd St Band present—
"A Tribute to Carole King and Singers of the 70s"

Friday, November 1, 7:00 p.m.

Get ready to “Feel the Earth Move!” The Top Hat Theatre in Ulen will be filled with the unforgettable sounds of the 1970s when Kathie Brekke & the 42nd Street Band take the stage for A Tribute to Carole King & Songs from the ’70s on Friday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.

This nostalgic concert celebrates the timeless hits of Carole King and other musical icons of the decade. From “I Feel the Earth Move” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” to “It’s Too Late,” “The Locomotion,” and “Take Good Care of My Baby,” audiences will relive the songs that defined a generation.

Joining the show is Lewy Ronken, performing some of Carole King’s best-known songs written for Bobby Vee and others. The evening will also feature 1970s favorites from Stevie Wonder, Herman’s Hermits, Jim Croce, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, Stevie Nicks, and more — guaranteeing a trip down memory lane for music lovers of all ages.

Kathie Brekke & 42nd Street have become a staple in the regional music scene. Founded in 1999 as the house band at Fargo’s Ramada Inn on 42nd Street — now the Delta by Marriott — the group continues to host Jazz Night every Thursday evening, the longest-running jazz event in Fargo’s history. The band also performs regularly at Jasper’s Theater in Park Rapids and throughout the region with popular shows such as their Peggy Lee Tribute and Rockin’ 50s Revue.

Known for his fiery guitar licks, soulful vocals, and seamless blend of roots, rock, funk, R&B, and Americana, Dylan has been captivating audiences nationwide for more than a decade. Whether playing to intimate listening rooms or festival crowds, his performances are dynamic, heartfelt, and full of energy.

Raised in both the South and the North, Dylan’s sound is as uniquely American as his story—infused with the grit of blues, the groove of soul, and the storytelling of folk. Influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, John Prine, Bill Withers, and The Band, he weaves familiar threads into something entirely his own: honest, fresh, and full of heart.

A member of the New York Blues Hall of Fame, Dylan has performed across the U.S. and Ireland, earning acclaim for his musicianship and emotional depth. His return to New York Mills promises a night of stripped-down storytelling, dazzling guitar work, and soulful authenticity—all in the intimate gallery listening-room setting that our audiences love.

Magic Carpet Ride

Saturday, February 14, 2026, 7:30pm

Magic Carpet Ride is a musical journey through one of the most electrifying and impactful times America has ever seen.

The Performance:  Immerse your senses in an electrifying video show projection accompanying a live performance of songs by The Doors ("Light My Fire"), The Byrds ("Mr. Tambourine Man"), Iron Butterfly, ("In-a-Gadda-da-Vida"), Jefferson Airplane ("White Rabbit"), Procol Harum ("A Whiter Shade of Pale"), Cream ("Sunshine of Your Love"), The Zombies ("Time of the Season"), Steppenwolf ("Born to be Wild") and Janis Joplin. ("Piece of My Heart").

The Light Show:  In the late 60s and early 70s, our lighting designer, Nautilus Music Theater's Ben Krywosz, created, designed and operated shows for many national groups at Fillmore West and other Bay area venues in San Francisco, among the musical highlights, BLUE CHEER and IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY. He also provided lighting for productions of TOMMY and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.

The light show itself is a highlight of this experience, "conjuring up swiftly changing kaleidoscopic images that ebb and flow with the music"

Behind the Scenes:
Magic Carpet Ride was conceived by Gary Rue and created in collaboration with lighting designer Ben Krywosz to bring audiences back to the days when Bay area musicians were making an impact on the social fabric of our country.

The exacting musicianship of the band is supercharged by the light show itself, what critics have called ‘the 6th member of the ensemble’.
