Art Club offers a fun and supportive environment to help grow each student's creativity. In this relaxed atmosphere, children will learn to have fun with art while practicing and improving on the basic elements of art, including various types of artistic styles and art history influences. Make new friends, learn new skills, and explore different mediums such as drawing, painting, collage and more!

Various arts events will be scheduled during this time throughout the year, suggestions for activities or other ideas to include within open studio are welcomed! Learn to use UV resin and sand from your favorite beach to create your own beautiful Beach Sand Necklace with artist Barb Owen-Boerger! Around here, our lakes are revered, and our beachy getaways are well earned! This class sends you home with a lovely piece of jewelry honoring your most cherished lake days and beach side memories! Bring your own sand & memories! Additional sand from around the world will also be available.
Choose from multiple pendant styles + 1 FREE pair of post earrings to create, too! Students will use 2 different UV resins and hand-craft each necklace. Additional necklace/pendant and earring sets are available for purchase and make at time of the class.
Holmes Spun Theatre is back! Our beautiful theatre opened in May 2001 with the original Holmes Spun Theatre show written by Mary Otto and Lynn Hummel. HST told a tongue-in-cheek history of Detroit Lakes and Becker County. Our 2024 version of HST continues that same tradition and brings you up to date with all the wonderful changes in DL over the past 20+ years. Written by Brent Gerber, HST III incorporates some of the treasures from the original and also the 2012 version of Holmes Spun II. Do not miss this fun revue of our community told through humor, music, and song and performed by your friends and neighbors!

Come work with artist Emma Tomb on meditative mark making, where students learn to connect their mind and emotions to a drawing. In a curated atmosphere, students will be led through making a pen on paper drawing to help channel themselves into their art. The final project will be a large scale, abstract ink drawing. All supplies included

Spend time with mixed media artist, Carmen McCullough creating your own, personal collage with paper, glue, paint and found objects. Take home a one-of-a-kind, 8x10”, piece of art!
Prior artsy experience is not required.
Bring photocopies of any images you would like to include. (Or, you are welcome to rummage through Carmen’s personal paper stash for inspiration.)
This might get messy, so please dress accordingly.

With songs like "Cracklin' Rosie," “America," and "Sweet Caroline,” come hear the music that became the soundtrack to one generation after another with hits spanning five decades.
Join artist Tricia Coulson in making an adorable recycled fiber vessel. Coulson will lead you through the construction of the vessel and a variety of different embroidery stitches that you can freestyle to decorate the work. This course is beginner friendly and can teach you skills to recycle textiles in your life!
Metal stamping is fun and easy. Learn the basic supplies needed and how to stamp and personalize a piece of jewelry for yourself, family or friends. You will leave with two pieces complete with chain and beads. Led by artist Joann McFarlin. All materials included, additional pieces will be available for $5 each day of.
