All are welcome at this weekly fiber arts gathering offering time and space for some fiber fun on Thursdays from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the beautiful Cultural Center Gallery space.

Bring your own projects, get advice, or use our supplies to start a new project.  Crochet, knit, weave, sew, stitch, needlepoint, felt–do whatever you like!  Beginners and experienced fiber artists are all welcome. Regular attendees will teach beginners or help you figure out a stitching pattern.  Yarn, needles, hooks, and project bags are provided for free to those who need them!  Sit ‘n’ Stitch is open to all and free to attend.

All types of sewing projects are welcome! Bring your projects, cutting tools and sewing machine. Several irons and boards will be provided.

Join us for a reception celebrating the debut of "In Every Season," a tour - either in person or virtual - of the signature artworks of Minnesota State Community and Technical College Fergus Falls. Thursday, January 18, 4-6 pm at Legacy Hall, M State Fergus Falls, 414 College Way, Fergus Falls, MN.

Those interested in getting started writing and established writers are invited to join the Hawley Library's Writers' Group. Join us to meet other writers during sessions held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. We will have a writing prompt, give feedback for anything you want to share, and talk about the writing process. We’ve doubled our listenership every year, and after three years we have nearly 20,000 downloads, not only demonstrating the interest in Native American art but also placing the podcast between the top 15%-10% or top podcasts weekly listenership. Finally, it feels good that Plains Art Museum is a national leader in showcasing Native American and Indigenous art at the high level it should be shown.

We are happy to once again partner with Elevate OTC to offer monthly Elevate Exploratories this season! We will also continue to host monthly arts learning workshops at various times during the week at the Cultural Center, in order to reach as many community members as possible.

This means 2 arts workshop opportunities each month this spring (PLUS, don’t forget our monthly Art for Lunch noon workshop each 2nd Thursday!)!

Our community art studio is open for public use during office hours, Mon—Thur, from 9 am to 4 pm, and Fri, from 9 am to 2 pm. This free space is open to use for your creative endeavors! A new Exhibition, Planes, Trains & Automobiles is now showing at the Red Door Art Gallery through May 18th. Works depict various modes of transportation, be it traditional or unconventional. The Artists' Reception will be taking place on Thursday, April 18th, 5:00 - 7:00pm.

Add life to your drawings with color! In this class, students will learn fundamentals of drawing such as proportion, composition, value and more; and explore color theory as they incorporate color into the drawing process. Instructor and artist Paul Johnson will lead students through exercises and offer tips, techniques, and guidance as they create completed works of art using materials such as colored pencil and pastels. This class is for beginners and intermediate artists who want to learn foundational tools and further their understanding of color to take their drawings to the next level!

Paul Johnson, a resident of Pelican Rapids, taught for over 20 years as Communication Art and Design instructor at Alexandria Technical & Community College. He is the creator of Paul Johnson Design & Illustration, and is the Concordia Christmas Concert muralist, just completing his 15th mural.

The Red Door Art Gallery invites you to join Christine Ellsworth in a five-week poetry therapy journey!

During select Thursdays over the summer, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, we'll meet in the Gallery Classroom

and read, talk about, and write poetry together. Our goal? We'll find ways to understand and embrace

the personal transformation in our lives, whether that's from one decade of life to another, from one

right of passage to another, one vocation to another. We're all in the midst of transformation in life and

poetry can help us move through it with grace and humor.

Christine Ellsworth is in her third year of poetry therapy faciliation training to become a certified CAPF

through the International Federation of Biblio-Poetry Therapy (ifbpt.org), and works with her mentor

Geri Giebel Chavis, a poetry therapist and author of several books including Poetry and Story Therapy:
