The Rourke is proud to present “Brett Lysne: Flower Arrangements," on view in The Main Gallery.
Members of the Rourke and their guests are invited to a special reception for the upcoming exhibit Friday 19 April from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Artist Biography:
Brett Lysne is an artist, designer, and educator who specializes in drawing, printmaking, and illustration. Born in Fargo and raised in Crookston, MN, he holds a BA from the University of Minnesota, Morris, and an MFA from Washington State University. From 2019 to 2022, Brett was a faculty member in the School of Art at Minnesota State University Moorhead. A series of his large-scale illustrations are displayed across the exterior of Fargo City Hall. Now located in Minneapolis, Brett is an artist co-op member at Highpoint Center for Printmaking and is a new faculty member at Breck School in Golden Valley, MN.

CALL FOR ART: "Summer Travels Call for Works" @ Red Door Art Gallery and Museum

We are seeking artwork that represents both the season of summer and the places often visited during the warm weather. Forms of work include but are not limited to painting, drawing, sculptural work, photography, printmaking, mixed media, wood carvings and textiles.

  • Artists must submit an Artist’s Biography along with works if this is an artist’s first time exhibiting.

  • All works must include the following information: Title, Medium, Year Completed, Brief Description, Dimensions,

    and Price.

  • The maximum each artist can bring is 3 – 5 pieces of artwork or 10 feet of wall space worth of artwork.

  • All works must be for sale, and priced with the understanding that the Red Door Art Gallery does take a 30% commission on all works. The commission must be included in your price. Include a detailed and clear inventory of all works for our records.

  • The Gallery does reserve the right to exclude any artwork that does not meet the standards set by the Gallery’sCollections and Exhibitions Committee.

  • All works that go on a wall must have a hanger on the back. All work must be equipped with a saw tooth hanger or wire.

  • All artists exhibiting in this show must be members of the Red Door Art Gallery. Feel free to contact RDAG if you are unsure of your membership status.

  • RDAG requests all artwork be able to stay in gallery throughout the entirety of the exhibit, except for in the event of a sale.

  • RDAG reserves the curatorial discretion for all placement, lighting, display, and all other aspects of the exhibition of works

  • Preference will be given to works that have not been previously exhibited at Red Door Art Gallery.

  • Artist consignment agreement must be signed and/or previously on file before art can be accepted or

    exhibited.

    To Submit:

    Images submitted to Red Door Art Gallery may be considered to be used in promotion of the exhibit.

    Artists are responsible for the delivery and/or shipping costs to and from the Red Door. If work is shipped, a reusable container must be used. RDAG is not responsible for damage during the shipment for any reason. Return shipment will be sent C.O.D. to the artist. No post office boxes will be accepted for return shipments.

The Red Door Art Gallery will arrange for pick up of art from Gallery 4 in Fargo. Please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this service. Date tbd.

Exhibit: "Gallery in Bloom" at The Rourke, Presented by The Longspur Prairie Fund" @ The Rourke Art Gallery + Museum

Marvel at breathtaking floral installations by renowned florist Steph Leininger of Botanica Floristry, beautifully complemented by vibrant prints from artist Brett Lysne.
Enjoy soothing classical guitar performances by Chris Argenziano of Twelve Strings and gain insights into the creative process during the artist's talk at 2:15 pm. Refreshments will be served.

Poetry Sessions: "Poetry Therapy with Christine Ellsworth" @ Red Door Art Gallery

The Red Door Art Gallery invites you to join Christine Ellsworth in a five-week poetry therapy journey!

During select Thursdays over the summer, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, we'll meet in the Gallery Classroom

and read, talk about, and write poetry together. Our goal? We'll find ways to understand and embrace

the personal transformation in our lives, whether that's from one decade of life to another, from one

right of passage to another, one vocation to another. We're all in the midst of transformation in life and

poetry can help us move through it with grace and humor.

Christine Ellsworth is in her third year of poetry therapy faciliation training to become a certified CAPF

through the International Federation of Biblio-Poetry Therapy (ifbpt.org), and works with her mentor

Geri Giebel Chavis, a poetry therapist and author of several books including Poetry and Story Therapy:

The Healing Power of Creative Expression (Writing for Therapy or Personal Development).

Delve into the five pillars of hip-hop and learn about the rich history and community behind this dynamic artform. Led by Kylie Linh Hoang, assistant curator at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, this lecture will explore the cultural significance of graffiti and its impact on marginalized groups. From black sketchbooks to large-scale works, Minnesota graffiti writers have nurtured a thriving community based on creativity, style, and mentorship.

Exhibition: "Trådar/Threads" @ Hjemkomst Center

Trådar/Threads is an exhibit by Minnesota artist Amy Sands. It consists of two series of prints. The Bunad series consists of 20 framed polymer photogravure prints of close-ups of historical bunad at the Osterøy Museum in Norway. This series will be on display Sept. 7, 2024 through June 23, 2025. The Portal series integrates historical photographs from the Tekstilindustrimuseet and patterns from the textiles collection of the Osterøy Museum, creating an intersection between handwork and the textile industry. This series will be on exhibit Sept. 7, 2024 through March 31, 2025.

Sands will give an exhibit talk on Sept. 7 at 2pm.

Exhibition: "LRAC Artists Cohort FY22 & FY23 Alumni Exhibition" @ LRAC Main Gallery

he Lake Region Arts Council announces the opening of “LRAC Artists Cohort FY22 & FY23 Alumni Exhibition” Monday, May 6th, 2024 at the LRAC Main Gallery at the historic River Inn, 133 S. Mill St., Fergus Falls, MN. The Public Reception will be held on Tuesday, May 21st , 5:30- 7PM, and you are encouraged to come and enjoy visiting with the artists and viewing their work. The exhibition will close on Wednesday, June 26 th , 2024.

LRAC Executive Director, Maxine Adams explains the exhibit by saying, “LRAC is celebrating the 7th Anniversary of the Artist Cohort Program. Since 2017, over 35 talented artists have participated in the program. Each Cohort spent 10 months working on their career development goals. We invite the public to visit the LRAC Cohort Alumni Exhibit and enjoy a diversity of artistic styles and disciplines.”
