Finnish Folk Traditions

Discover the rich traditions of Finnish music, song, and dance with COMPAS Teaching Artist Renee Vaughan at the New York Mills Public Library.

This engaging program explores traditional Finnish folk music performed on the nyckelharpa, a unique stringed instrument often associated with Sweden that also has historical roots in Finland. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn the letkajenkka and a traditional Finnish-American immigrant tune.

The program is free and open to all ages. Preregistration is encouraged.
