Preliminary Portrait Painting with Arthur Norby

Portraits are one of the oldest forms of art, join us with visiting artist Art Norby to learn the steps on how to paint a portrait. Norby will lead you through the beginning stages of creating composition, the under drawing, and how to begin your painting. Students can bring in their own references or use one from class. This is an all day course with a quick break for lunch. Must be registered by June 23rd

Materials not provided

You are welcome to bring either oil paints or acrylic paints, please see the list of materials below:

-One 16X 20 canvas or multiple large size paper (watercolor or pastel paper is the best)

-Graphite pencils or charcoal

-Paint brushes for your chosen paint

-Suggested colors to bring:

· Titanium white

· Cadmium yellow light

· Cad yellow medium

· Cadmium orange

· Cadmium red light

· Cadmium red medium

· Alizarin crimson

· Ultramarine blue

· Paynes gray

· Burnt umber
