Hygge Market 2026

Saturday, February 14, 2026
Unique Artists, Makers & Authors
Embrace Cozy With Us This Winter!

All are invited to join us at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center for our 2nd Annual Hygge Market from 10 AM – 2 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

This year, we’re excited to collaborate with our next-door neighbors, the NYM Public Library, to expand the market experience! While the Cultural Center will feature artists and makers, the Library will focus on hosting local authors—creating an even more vibrant, cozy event.

Hygge is defined as “a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).”  Hygge is a way of life for Danes that embodies a sense of coziness, simplicity, and being present.

2026 Confirmed Vendors:

  • Farmhouse Bakery – baked goods

  • Gen Keranen – fiber arts

  • Knitted Love – handmade blankets

  • Shelley Johnson – fiber arts

  • Sunnyside Treats – baked goods

More vendors will be confirmed as the date approaches. Are you an artist or author who creates cozy, comforting, and heartwarming pieces? We want YOU to join our Hygge Market! Contact Emily at emily@kulcher.org or call 218-385-3339.

Hygge Definition:

Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) is a Danish concept that represents coziness, comfort, and contentment. It’s about slowing down, enjoying the little things, and embracing moments of peace — whether it’s lighting a candle, snuggling under a blanket, or appreciating beautiful art. At the Hygge Market, we are embracing this feeling through art, creativity, and connection.

Workshop Opportunities

We will be offering two workshops during our Hygge Market on February 14, 2026!

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a touch of historic charm! Join us for a special Morning with Megan workshop—held during our annual Hygge Market—as Artistic Director Megan Shirley-Ross guides participants through creating a Victorian-inspired puzzle purse keepsake.

Puzzle purses (also known as folding love letters) were popular in the Victorian era and often used to share heartfelt messages in a beautifully decorative form. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own puzzle purse to gift to someone special or keep as a meaningful personal treasure.

  • Workshop: Victorian Puzzle Purse Workshop

  • Date/Time: Saturday, February 14; 10 AM – 12 PM

  • Cost: $20 for Non-Members / $17 for Members

  • Location: Upstairs @ New York Mills Regional Cultural Center (Accessible only by stairs; call 218-385-3339 if accommodations are needed)

The second workshop of the day is a make-and-take workshop. Participants are invited to create a Victorian-inspired “Heart in Hand” paper Valentine during this free make-and-take activity. This hands-on project uses construction paper, simple cutting techniques, and paper weaving to create a symbolic and meaningful handmade keepsake.

The “Heart in Hand” motif—popular in Victorian-era valentines—represents friendship, love, and generosity, making it a perfect project for the day. This activity is beginner-friendly, and all materials are provided. Stop in anytime during the event and leave with a unique, handmade Valentine to gift or treasure for years to come.

  • Workshop: Victorian-Inspired “Heart in Hand”

  • Date/Time: Saturday, February 14; 12 PM – 2 PM

  • Cost: FREE & Open to ALL!

  • Location: Upstairs @ New York Mills Regional Cultural Center (Accessible only by stairs; call 218-385-3339 if accommodations are needed)

We hope you can join us for this cozy, creative day!
