In 1956, Charles Beck created this 15 by 7-foot mural for the Pennington County Court House in Thief River Falls. The mural illustrates the food gathering of our regions' Native Americans. Wild rice, maple syrup, berries, corn and the animals they depended upon for food, shelter, and clothing are represented.
Removed from the Court House in December 2022, the mural is currently being restored at the Midwest Art Conservation Center in Minneapolis. When completed, the mural will be displayed at the Otter Tail County Historical Society.
