Pioneer Public Television’s Postcards program will feature a retrospective of the first 10 years of the award-winning art, culture and history program on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. The episode will be rebroadcast on Sunday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. and on Monday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. The stories will also be available for online viewing through the station’s website: www.pioneer.org/postcards.
Over the past 10 years, more than 350 Postcards segments have been produced featuring local history, artist character studies and the culture of western and southwestern Minnesota.
More than 70 local communities, hundreds of artists, dozens of historians and community champions have been featured as a part of these stories. Postcards stories are responsible for nine Upper Midwest Emmy® Award statues that adorn the new lobby of PBS Pioneer, located in Granite Falls.
The 10-year retrospective will feature some of these award-winning documentaries, including stories from Prinsburg, Detroit Lakes, Pipestone, Fergus Falls, Slayton and Granite Falls. There will also be “behind the scenes” glimpses as the editors and videographers trace how the program has evolved over the past decade.
