The fifth season Pioneer Public Television’s Grassland Jam continues with the a main stage performance by the Stillwater-based Blue Hazard band on Saturday, April 6 at 7 p.m. and will be available for online viewing immediately after the broadcast on www.pioneer.org/grasslandjam. The broadcast will be repeated on Monday, April 8 at noon. The performances were recorded at the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old Time Music Association Festival held in Richmond in August 2018.
Blue Hazard mixes their love of contemporary mediums with old-soul roots to create an impactful musical experience. Evolving from a novice family band into dedicated and earnest musicians, the group impresses listeners with their crisp harmonies, complex arrangements and honest and diverse songwriting.
Blue Hazard features Dale Gruber on fiddle and guitar; Luke Gruber on mandolin and guitar; Hannah Johnson on guitar; Uriah Nibbe on banjo; and Clara Wicklund on bass. The five-piece formed in 2000 and is comprised of three siblings and two friends. In 2012, they debuted “This World of Mine” — their first album consisting of mostly original songs. Progressing further, the band released their first all-original album “Sideshow” on July 7, 2017.
