Paul Imholte returns to the Evansville Art Center for our December 1st Friday Concert If it has strings, Paul Imholte probably pays it. Known as a folk musician and “stringman”, he plays nearly a dozen instruments. Paul will present a concert of traditional, original, and holiday music.
Paul’s featured instrument is the hammered dulcimer. It is a trapezoid shaped instrument that is struck with light hammers and is a forerunner of the modern piano. Along with the hammered dulcimer, his sings and plays fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, autoharp, cello, mountain dulcimer, and jaw harp.
His repertoire contains traditional American ballads, Celtic fiddle music, light classical instrumentals, seasonal carols, and original music. Paul sings songs about the Midwest: about farms, small towns, and the people that make their living on the land.
Doors open at 6:30 P.M. Please bring a treat to share at intermission if you like. Beverages provided. This is a free concert. Donations accepted.
Many thanks to the Evansville Historical Foundation for providing funding for this outstanding musician.
